Lincoln Historic Site will once again come alive with the return of Old Lincoln Days and The Last Escape of Billy the Kid, August 4 – 6, 2023. Experience history where it happened, with three days of fun for all ages in one of the most legendary towns in America.
Take a trip to New Mexico during the 1870s and 1880s and explore museums and historic buildings. Interact with living historians, enjoy activities, and watch a reenactment of one of Lincoln’s many bloody gun-battles. You can learn about the town’s history from a notable speaker, listen to live music, grab a bite to eat, and walk the grounds where Billy the Kid, Pat Garrett, and other characters of the Old West roamed.
The festivities culminate each day with a performance of the pageant The Last Escape of Billy the Kid. Now in its 82nd year, local citizens retell the story of the Lincoln County War and Billy the Kid in truly spectacular fashion. The group organizing the pageant is not affiliated with New Mexico Historic Sites, however, Historic Sites is pleased to collaborate with them and provide pre-programming support. Performances are held at the Pageant Grounds at 8:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Admission for the pageant includes a concert each day: Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. will be the Rocking M Wranglers and Sunday at 11:30 a.m. will feature La Ultima. Pageant tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for kids aged 6 – 12, with kids five and under admitted free.
Old Lincoln Days hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $7 per adult to access the historic site. Children, veterans, and active military members and their families are free. Tickets may be purchased online.
