Put on your comedy hat, Ruidoso! The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) is bringing back the Name a Snowplow Contest for its second year, and they want your help naming our hardworking snowplows. Let’s give these winter warriors names that are as unique and inspired as our incredible state!
This year, 12 lucky winners will have their nominations selected, celebrated statewide, and proudly displayed on snowplows across New Mexico!

Snowplows are critical in keeping our roads safe and our communities connected during winter. By naming them, you’re celebrating their role in your community and adding a touch of New Mexico flair to our fleet.
Name a Snowplow Contest Details
Entering is easier than finding a pine cone in the Lincoln National Forest.
Submission period: Now through Friday, December 20, 2024, at noon.
Name themes: Creative, winter-themed, or New Mexico-inspired names.
How to enter: Submit your name online on the NMDOT website.
Name a Snowplow Contest Rules
- Names must be 20 characters or fewer (including spaces).
- No vulgar, profane, or inappropriate language.
- Names cannot be politically inspired or based on politicians.
- Previously selected names from 2024 are ineligible for 2025.
